 By default , the server name is "server1" so odds are thats why "server" 
doesnt work.
or are you pointing out the "-user" versus "-username" options?

I'm using TIP with WebTop 2.2 and "-username" works.

is it just me having a very bad day, or has somebody else stumled over it 
?
 
WORKS: stopServer.sh server1 -user tipadmin -password blabla 
DOESN'T WORK: stopServer server -username tipadmin -password blabla 
 
stopServer -help responds
options:
... 
-username <username>
...
 
This may be a minor gotcha - but the really bad thing about it is that the 
ITNM 3.8 installer (well, here we are again at the topic of installers) 
creates a set of scripts, e.g. tip_server.sh, which explictely use the 
-username option.
 
As a result, you can install and start ITNM38 - but you'll never be able 
to stop TIP....
And the 3.8 FP1 installer also will not be able to stop TIP to install the 
patches.
 
If somebody could please confirm my findings - I'll then log a PMR.
