I had a brief bout with AIX and syslog in the past. 

From what I remember, AIX has its own error logging mechanism (errlog,
errrpt, something like that). By default, all system and hardware
messages are sent to this logging system, not syslog. We had to use the
'odmadd' command to configure this system to forward the messages to
syslog. Then you can update syslog.conf to send the messages anywhere
you want.

It's time to hire a new AIX team. Sending a syslog message is sending  
a syslog message, it doesn't matter if it's to windows, Linux, AIX,  
HP-PUX or Debian. As long as you have a listening syslog service on  
the Windows box, the "AIX Team" shouldn't care.
