True.  I know the guy who wrote that, he had good honest intentions, but
not enough SNMP experience.  The same for the company at that point in
time.  I don't know first hand, but I would hope that WebCtrl is further
along these days than what Alert use to send as traps.   

I'm curious now, have you ever seen Trend Historian or EDB for
Windows? ;-)
