[INUG-Users] R: Omnibus 3.5 - first login

I found out following behavior (not interesting, ‘cause 3.5 is out-of-sale!).
If you attempt to first login after migrating OS to TAB files (regional storage), no way to get in.
I re-created OS with no migration, and everything’s fine (login with root, no password).
Then after first login, I migrated to FUZZY, and everything’s fine.
Wierd, anyway.
Thanx all.

Leonardo, when you say access the objectserver I presume you mean via the desktop. Default configuration is user root with no password. You should be able to enter via the desktop or nco_sql as that to test it

Dear Zane,
thanx.
Anyway, I had already worked out: someone put a differente port into nco_pa.conf conf file!
A question: I don't rememeber how to access (first login) as root a newly created 3.5 Object Server (several years past away since my last scratch installation!).
Could anyone send me a quick tip?
Regards.

Hi Leonardo,
If you have a firewall between your ObjectServer and your Gateway, then you will need to open two ports:
1) the port the ObjectServer is running on (eg. 4100)
2) the IDUC port of the ObjectServer
By default, the IDUC port is set randomly when the ObjectServer starts. Connecting IDUC clients (eg. Gateways) then connect on the main ObjectServer port (ie. 4100) and then the ObjectServer tells the client the IDUC port number the ObjectServer is using. The client then makes a second connection to the ObjectServer's IDUC port. In order to set firewall rules therefore, you need to set the ObjectServer's IDUC to a fixed value.
Page 25 of the OMNIbus 3.5 Administration Guide explains how to do this. The simplest way to fix the IDUC port number for an ObjectServer is to add the -port commandline parameter. eg:
$OMNIHOME/bin/nco_objserv -name NCOMS -port 6969
Your log files would indicate that the Gateway is trying to connect to the ObjectServer's IDUC port on port 6970 but timing out. This is consistent with a firewall blockage. Therefore try fixing your IDUC port and creating a rule to allow traffic on this port.

[INUG-Users] GW Oracle v7 versus Omnibus 3.5
Hi all.
I have some troubles in starting up a GW (gateway) Oracle v7 versus an Omnibus 3.5 installation.
Everything seems fine about the general configuration (no errors into log).
I think, anyway, issues are at firewall level, as you can probably understand from my log file (hiding some personal info about DNS names/IPs):
10/24/07 13:30:37: Debug: D-UNK-000-000: Sybase: IDUC Connection to host 'xxxxx'[172.27.XXX.XXX], port '6970', SPID '4'.
[…]
10/24/07 13:34:22: Error: E-UNK-000-000: Sybase: Failed to establish IDUC connection. (145:Connection timed out)
10/24/07 13:34:22: Error: E-UNK-000-000: Sybase: Failed to make IDUC connection to server 'TEST'. (0)
10/24/07 13:34:22: Error: E-UNK-000-000: Thread 'InputDataProcDistThread': Failed to connect to server 'TEST'.
Now, I will now set up a no-firewalled port for IDUC (setting /etc/services).
My question is: has been anyone using GW Oracle v7 recently?
My configuration steps are:
1) Package installation
2) OMNI.DAT setup and nco_igen to create interfaces file
3) ENV variables vs Oracle DB (ORACLE_HOME, TNS_ADMIN) and vs Netcool
4) Licensing ok (BTW, where can I set up a different dir for .lic files?)
5) Using AUDIT mode for GW, I created my mapping files and oracle tables based on my OS configuration
Anything missing?
Also, how can I set up/check out the reader timing vs OS performed by the Oracle GW?
Lots of questions, I know, but please have a look at!
Regards.
