[INUG-Users] Netcool Probe Failover Issue

Some people have used a load balancer in front of the probes to direct
traffic to either the active probe, or to split traffic among multiple
probes. Or you can try to implement some sort of failover scheme at the
OS level, like using a virtual IP address that is only active on the
probe that is running. This is not really something that can be
addressed by Netcool.

Subject: [INUG-Users] Netcool Probe Failover Issue

	All,

Has anyone noticed the following issue when the setup the Probe
server in a failover configuration?

We have certain source tools such as ITM, ITCAM, MOM which can
forward events only to 1 probe server. This is a major issue for us, as
we currently use The Failover configuration.

Below is an example of what we run into our production system:

SNMP traps are send to Primary Probe server(Box 1) and the
Failover Probe server(Box 2)

ITM, ITCAM and MOM events are forwarded only to the Primary
Probe server (Box 1)

All works fine when Box 1 is up and running, but if Box 1 ever
goes down we loose all the events that are send from ITM, ITCAM and MOM
until Box 1 is restarted. Also the whole purpose of us using the
failover Probe server was so that we don't loose any events when the
primary probe server goes down.

So is there a way for us to tackle this from Netcool Omnibus?

Thank you very much for any details that anyone can provide
