By default Proxy and Gateway handshaking is internal away from the normal 
user security model.   Secure mode modifies that situation allowing you to 
assign user/group to these components.  You may then fine tune permissions 
if required even down to individual proxy or gateway connection through 
the user and group permissions.

Isn't it somehow crazy,
that you can see a proxy connected to the objectserver in 
catalog.connections with an username "proxy",
but there exists no user "proxy" in security.users!
 
There isn't either any property (beside secure mode) to set a username and 
a password.
